Water Truck
- NBring your own reusable water bottle and refill it for FREE.
- NThis 300 gallon truck, courtesy of the MWRA (Mass. Water Resource Authority), is filled with cool, clean Arlington tap water.
- NDid you know? In 2023, two new Arlington on Tap water refill stations became available at Hurd Field (off the bike path, behind Trader Joe's) and Swan Place (Arlington Center, near Kickstand Cafe). Additional refill stations are in the works - stay tuned!
- NIn November 2022, Arlington implemented a retail ban on single-use plastic water bottles less than 1 liter. This bylaw aims to encourage a cultural shift where residents bring reusable water bottles with them, thereby eliminating the purchase of single-use plastic bottles.

Reduce Single-Use! Pilot Program
- NSign up to dine with Zero Waste using reusable containers at Town Day.
- NEvery year, over 2,500 meals are served at Town Day in single-use takeout containers. We aim to reduce the waste generated from these meals by 10%.
- NHow? We have partnered with 5 Town Day food vendors who will provide takeout food in reusable containers to participants who sign up for this pilot program: Pie Palace, Man Made Chili, Thrive Juice Cafe, Punjab and Fattoush.
- NBut that’s not all! Participating vendors will only give out single-use takeout accessories (forks, napkins, straws, condiments, etc.) by request. We will also have crowd sourced and sanitized silverware available to use for your takeout meal.
Here’s how the program works:
- ESign-up (required, limited spots available)
- EPay $5 refundable deposit. Venmo is accepted in advance, cash only at Town Day. Deposit is returned when the container is returned to us at Town Day.
- EPick up token(s) from the Reduce Single-Use! Town Day booth.
- EPurchase food from participating vendors, present token(s) to receive food in reusable container(s).
- EEnjoy your meal and return container(s) to us at Town Day to receive your deposit back.
